A recent report indicates that Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 will feature a 200 MP primary camera. This information aligns with previous reports from last month, which included the initial leaked renders of the device.
The 200 MP sensor is identical to the one found in the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which was released in Korea and China last year. It is also the same main camera utilized in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, representing a significant enhancement over the 50 MP camera of the Fold6.

Furthermore, the report suggests that the under-display camera, located beneath the folding screen, will receive a long-awaited upgrade. While the specifics of this enhancement remain unclear, improvements in quality and resolution beyond the current 4 MP would certainly be welcomed.
Regrettably, these are the only two camera enhancements expected for the Fold7. It will retain the same 12 MP ultrawide, 10 MP telephoto, and 10 MP selfie camera on the cover screen as its predecessor.
In the worldwide market for foldable smartphones, Samsung continues to lead, although it has experienced a reduction in its previous market dominance.
According to Counterpoint Research, the company’s market share was approximately 56% in the third quarter of 2024, down from around 70% in the same quarter of 2023. Despite this decline, Samsung remains the foremost brand in the foldable smartphone sector.
Other manufacturers, including Huawei, Xiaomi, Motorola, and Honor, are progressively increasing their market presence, with Xiaomi demonstrating notable growth in its shipment figures.
The global foldable smartphone market faced its first decline in Q3 2024, with a year-on-year decrease of 1% in shipments. Samsung’s performance in Q3 2024 was adversely affected by a 21% year-on-year drop in shipments, even with the introduction of the new Galaxy Z6 series. Conversely, Huawei experienced a substantial rise in its foldable smartphone shipments, largely attributed to the popularity of its Mate X5 and Pocket 2 models within China.
