Using for Truenas boot drive
So Truenas requires a full drive for its boot. I had a 500 GB NVME drive as my boot initially, but the boot drive only used like 3GB. Searching around, the current recommendation for USB drives are external SSD's. I found on Amazon a Startech dual SSD USB enclosure. That enclosure requires certain type of SATA SSD's and this drive met that requirement. Finding small SSD type drives are getting more difficult and this fits that use case of not wasting a ton of space / money for a boot drive.

I tend to stay away from super cheap SSDs of any type, but as this (upgrading an HP Thin Client) was a fun project and not serious if it died, I took a chance on this one. Worked flawlessly.
One thing: It did NOT come with the mounting screw for the M.2 slot. You will need one of your own.

I am booting a Toshiba Satellite C55-A6. That was bought with Windows 8 on it to give an idea of age. With a 2.5 SATA to M.2 adaptor and swapping the DVD-RW for a 2.5 SATA drive caddy to put the original HDD into. This drive as really woke up this old laptop to being a great netbook. Not the fastest writer but just fine on reads making for a good boot drive. For less than twenty dollars you can’t beat it.
